End-user & application analysis

Today, SOFCs are mainly used to produce heat and power, but more can be done. Horticulture for example, needs electricity for lighting, heat, CO2 and water, all of which can be produced in a SOFC system as well as provide prime power to users with backup power requirement. In this public deliverable, Energy Matters and Convion perform application analysis and profitability mappings taking into account e.g. energy prices, by-products, operation and maintenance costs, system life-time, and investment costs. Special focus will be given to specific boundary conditions for each application (regulations, size and interface limitations, load profile, etc.). In addition, integration possibilities with e.g. heat storage and heat pumps will be analyzed.
