Work Packages

INNO-SOFC consist of five work package, three technical work packages, one work package is dedicated for project coordination and one for dissemination and exploitation activities, each managed by a work package leader responsible for the outcome and timing of their work package.

WP1: is project coordination with main objective to ensure that the project progresses according to project plan and that the results will be achieved according to the project proposal.

WP2: analyzes end-user requirements and makes profitability mapping for fuel cell systems at the present state but also for different future scenarios. This objective is achieved with detailed analysis of potential SOFC applications and end-users. Analysis includes for example customer requirements and limitations combined with profitability mapping from SOFC system integrator and supply chain point of view. This analysis is done both in current situation, but also with different future scenarios. This information is used in system design and validation, and also to focus dissemination and exploitation activities. This information is used to optimize fuel cell system in WP 3 to fulfil end-user requirements and to validate the system in relevant conditions.

WP3: is focused on system design, manufacturing, and validation. It also provides system’s requirements for WP 4 to ensure that stacks and stack-system interface are optimal for the system. The main objective of this WP is to develop and validate a cost- and performance-optimized novel 50kW SOFC system that combines innovative products and know-how of project partners. The objectives of this WP are:

  • 60% electrical efficiency at system level
  • 85% total efficiency at system level
  • At least 30% reduction of cost, 4000 €/kW system cost in serial-production
  • Implementation and validation of advanced model based control and diagnostics
  • System demonstrated for 3000 hours
  • System efficiency and life-time validated according to IEC standards

WP4: performs cost optimization for Elcogen’s stack design and manufacturing methods to fulfil stacks’ cost target. also delivers stacks for WP 3 system assembly. WP 3 and WP 4 provide technical and economic data on stacks and systems for WP 2 analysis. Efficient knowledge exchange and interaction between these work packages is ensured by participation of WP leaders into all these work packages. Based on previous projects, this kind of “hands-on” participation is seen necessary to ensure efficient interaction and optimal outcome of the project.

WP5: is used to ensure efficient dissemination and exploitation of project results, not only for project partners, but by ensuring public awareness. This is the key to strengthen European Fuel Cell industry so that also other companies can benefit and use products, services, and value chains developed within the INNO-SOFC project. Main objective of this work package is to boost transfer to targeted markets of the products and services developed in INNO-SOFC through:

  • Effective IPR and data management
  • Proper planning of actions and assignment of roles in order to foster the direct and indirect exploitation of the project results
  • Synergies with the support and services offered by European energy communities to approach early adopters
  • The promotion of project results towards targeted audiences, via up-to-date dissemination tools
  • Awareness building of the technological solution to the relevant market sectors
